What Does A Humidor Do?
What Does A Humidor Do?

Cigars need precise control of temperature and humidity levels to maintain their freshness during long-term storage. By maintaining the humidity level, the cigar box allows the tobacco leaf inside the cigar to expand and contract according to its internal humidity. The lower humidity level will lead to the shrinkage of tobacco leaves and the loss of flavor and aroma. In addition, even high humidity can cause mold growth or decay. Without proper storage, cigars will lose their quality in less than two weeks. However, if stored properly, cigars will improve with age. A smaller, lighter cigar may reach its best flavor after six months of careful storage, while a larger, darker and stronger cigar may reach its best state after two or three years.
Once you store your cigars safely in a good cigar box, the only thing you need to do is occasionally check the humidity level in the cigar box and keep the cigar box at room temperature. This should be easy. Fortunately, we have cigar box recommendations here.
